Tools, frameworks, dependencies: your whole development stack in a dev container.
We've all had to (re)install our entire development environment at some point when changing machines. Whether by choice or simply in "onboarding" mode when changing company, assignment, ... We've also sometimes spent long hours figuring out which tools to install just to submit a PR or MR to an Open Source project.
In many other cases, we quickly run into the configuration hell of tools and frameworks just to do what we love: develop. And don't get me started on version upgrades and inter-dependencies π ...
Fortunately, there's a solution to all these problems: dev containers.
In this tools-in-action session, I invite you to discover them. The only thing I allow myself to install on my machine: Docker! The rest will be configuration management, so that tools, frameworks, versions and dependencies become a non-event in your development process.
You'll leave knowing how to use dev containers, but also how to build your development stack as code.
